Getting Ready For Christmas
Christmas is such a busy time. The Christmas season seems to begin earlier every year. Some stores are beginning to decorate for Christmas as soon as Halloween is over! It seems to take longer and longer to prepare for Christmas as well. That is why some people begin their shopping so soon.
Are you ready for Christmas? I was recently asked this question by a friend. I honestly answered that no, I am not ready for Christmas. There are still gifts to buy and wrap, parties to attend, cards to mail, and many other things. I am usually one of those men out on Christmas Eve looking for that last gift.
I understood what my friend meant when he asked me that question. But as a believer I tend to look at the question a little differently. Am I prepared for what Christmas is really all about? Am I prepared to worship Jesus, whose birth we celebrate on Christmas? Am I thankful for the gift or eternal life which was provided by the sacrificial death of Jesus? Am I willing to give, not just gifts to my friends, but to give my life in service of Jesus? Am I ready to bow down and worship the King of Kings and Lord of Lords? Am I ready to share the message of Good News with a lost friend or family member? Am I ready to live for Christ? We all need to ask ourselves this question, "Am I ready for Christmas?"
