Christmas Lights

Every Christmas Rene' and I like to take a drive and look at the Christmas lights. We usually have hot chocolate and take our time enjoying the sights. The lights seem to shine so bright in the dark winter nights. Every year there seems to be more and more lights to look at. I think there is a competition in our neighborhood to see who can have the most lights.

The theme of light is found throughout the Bible. In the beginning God said, " Let there be light". The light from a star led the wise men to the Messiah. Jesus is called the light of the world. The primary meaning of light in the Bible is the revelation of God. Darkness is the absence of the knowledge of God. We would never know God if He did not reveal Himself to us. His light shines forth in the darkness, and the birth of Jesus is the greatest revelation of God to mankind. Thank you God for the gift of salvation.

When the wise men saw the light of the star standing over where Jesus was, they, "Rejoiced with exceedingly great joy." ( Read Matthew 2:9-11) This Christmas let us experience the joy of knowing Jesus Christ, and exercise the privilege of sharing the light of Jesus to those around us.

Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, goodwill toward men!
